In Fireworks, you can use all built-in filters in the Xtras menu as Live Effects using the Effect panel. This ensures that you can edit or remove the filter from an object at any time. You can also edit objects to which you applied the filters.
Use the Xtras menu to apply filters only when you are certain that you will not need to remove or edit the filter. For more information on using the Xtras menu to apply Xtras filters, see Using filters and plug-ins.
Note: If an Xtra filter is applied using the Xtras menu, the filter is editable only if Undo is available. After saving and reopening the image, the filter is not removable.
